Muay Thai at Whetstone
The Art of Eight Limbs
Whetstone offers Muay Thai classes in Cortlandt Manor, New York. Muay Thai is known as the art of eight limbs because its striking vocabulary uses punches, elbows, knees, and kicks delivered with the shins. Training also develops footwork, defense, combinations, timing, and conditioning.
Learning Muay Thai involves more than throwing individual strikes. Balance and positioning affect whether a student can strike and recover safely. Distance determines which tools are available. Defense, timing, and combinations help students respond to a moving partner rather than treating techniques as isolated movements.
The academy serves students throughout Northern Westchester and nearby Lower Putnam County. Current times are available on the Schedule page.

Technical Development
Build Reliable Striking
Technical striking begins with a stance that supports balance, movement, offense, and defense. Footwork helps a student manage position and distance. Clean mechanics allow punches, kicks, knees, and appropriate elbow techniques to work together without sacrificing the ability to recover.
Combinations teach students to connect strikes rather than rely on one action. Defense and timing help them recognize when to move, block, respond, or reset. Controlled partner work provides a practical setting for developing those skills without assuming a particular sparring frequency.
Conditioning supports technical development. Students can build capacity through consistent practice while continuing to prioritize balance, positioning, and sound movement.
